Beside Skincare
After receiving the Latest in Beauty advent calendar, I had
an abundance of sample-sized skincare products all over my bedroom and I
realised I really needed to get some order. I sorted all the products out and
purchased a cute, butterfly covered box (From Boux Avenue, reduced to £3 from
£6) to put all the skincare products that I could use morning and night in to
have handy next to my bed.
The Lip Balm
Also, although I didn’t receive it within the calendar, I
always keep a hand cream handy by the side of my bed during winter as I get
ridiculously dry hands. The one I am using at the moment is Soap & Glory’s
Hand Food.
The Moisturisers
Within the LIB calendar, I received 3 moisturisers. Firstly
was an interesting little product which comes in a nicely decorated tin called
STEAMCREAM. This product is SO handy to have before bedtime as you can use it
on your face, hands and body; so this is definitely my go-to product if I
happen to have any dry skin anywhere! The product itself smells kind of like
Sudocreme (which I personally don’t mind) and a little goes a long way, and I
think this is the actual full size of the product so it is going to last me a
while. When the product is used up I’m definitely going to use the tin for
something else, although I’m not quite sure yet! The next moisturising products
I received are a duo from a brand I’d not previously heard of called ESPA. The
little sample-sized set included the Lift & Firm Intensive Eye Serum and
the Lift & Firm Moisturiser. A few minutes after applying these products,
my face did actually feel firmer as it promises within the name, especially the
Eye Serum. Although I am not sure if I would repurchase these products again as
the brand is rather expensive, it has made me want to try more Eye
Creams/Serums as I never really have prior to using ESPA.
The Oils
The calendar included 3 oils; a 10ml Balance me roll on,
Bioeffect EGF Serum and Triology Rosehip oil. Prior to purchasing the calendar,
I had never used oils/serums as I only ever seemed to use moisturisers alone,
but I was pleasantly surprised as they made my face, neck and décolletage feel
much more hydrated. Of the trio, my favourite has to be the Balance me oil as I
love the easy roll on application and I think my least favourite is the Rosehip
oil as I find it irritates me around my nose, but works perfectly on my
forehead, chin and cheeks.
The Mask
I received an Rescue Mask from the brand EVE LOM and as far
as face masks go, I have only ever used the cheapo ones you find in supermarkets
which are peel off and I’d never used one which you keep on for longer than 10
minutes. Although this isn’t bedside skincare as the product requires being
washed off at a sink, I only ever use it before bedtime so included it within
the box. I apply this product after cleansing my face and leave it on for about
20 minutes and wipe it off using a Liz Earle muslin cloth. After using this
product, my skin has never felt so soft! I was actually quite shocked at the
results and trying this sample sized beauty out has made me want to try out
more products from the brand.
The LIB calendar only included one lip balm, a 100% organic,
multipurpose, rose geranium lip balm from the brand Balm Balm. I prefer less
floral scents when it comes to lip products but I the formulation of this
product enough to be able to stand the rose scent, as when I apply a healthy
layer of this at night-time my lips feel so soft in the morning and make
applying lipsticks easier.
