July Haul!

And the world’s most inconsistent “blogger” award goes to…

So lately I have not blogged as much as I’d hoped, and I have no excuses apart from pure laziness and lack of inspiration to do so. But… this month is the month I seem to have been buying quite a lot of things I have wanted for agesss. I’m not sure why this is, I think I just got a little bit too click happy with the “add to basket” button and bought a few things from Boots/John Lewis which I have wanted to try.


Starting with Boots…

Soap & Glory’s “One Heck of a Blot” £12
I’m a big fan of using translucent face powders to set makeup in my t-zone and run underneath my eyes to try and prevent smudges ever since using the Rimmel “Stay Matte” powder which I came to an end of. I decided to try another brand and I’ve heard good things about this one. Also, I’m a sucker for S&G’s snazzy packaging.   

L’Oreal “Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution” £3.33
This is pretty much a cheaper and easier to get hold of in the UK version of Bioderma, but the bottles are more convenient for travelling. I prefer using these Micellar Solutions to remove my makeup as I find facial wipes really hard on the skin and ever since ditching them my skin has really improved.

La Roche-Posay “Effaclar Duo” £13
I see llymlrs rave about this product all the time so I really wanted to try it out. I’m yet to use it but all the reviews I’ve read online make this product seem very promising!

Next stop, the Origins counter of John Lewis…

“Clear Improvements” £20
I tried a sample of this charcoal mask a while ago and knew one day I had to purchase the full size. Although it looks pretty terrifying when it’s on, it makes my skin feel amazing afterwards.

“Drink Up Intensive” £20
I also tried a sample of this overnight mask and the same feeling took hold. This product smells amazing and really does quench the skin. Although these products are quite expensive I know they’ll last a long time as I’m only going to use them once or twice a week, when I feel my skin really needs the extra treatment.

Then the Illamasqua online sale… (swatch photo in order of products mentioned…)

I’ve never tried Illamasqua products before apart from the Freak perfume which I love, so when I saw them had a sale on with free delivery I knew I needed to get some.



I picked up a cream pigment in Androgen (top swatch, £7.50) which can be applied to the lips, eyes, cheeks and body, but I think I’ll only be using this on my lips and cheeks.

I also got a couple of lipglosses in the colours, a sheer one: Lily-Rose (second to top swatch, forgot to photograph in compilation photo!) and an intense one: Succubus (3rd swatch) (both £5). I am extremely impressed with these lipglosses, even the colour payoff on the “sheer” lipgloss is amazing, and they are so easy to apply.  

I then picked up an illuminator in the shade Fondle (last swatch, £5) which goes on wet and dries quick, and I’ve never tried a highlighting product like this before so I’m excited to use it.

Lastly from Amazon…

I purchased a bottle of MoroccanOil for all hair types (£30). I have wanted this for years but been resisting and I couldn’t justify spending this much money on a hair treatment but after reading reviews I deemed that it is definitely worth it, and I wasn’t wrong! Especially in this humid weather this product is a complete saviour to my dry, frizzy ends.

Starting with the morning, as I tend to not wear foundation in the daytime, but need other products such as my concealer to blend onto my skin nicely, I make sure I always use a moisturiser with an SPF of at least 30, regardless of the time of year. This is important when using the Alpha H Liquid Gold, as the active ingredients make skin much more sensitive to any rays and more likely to contract sunburn. The moisturiser I opt for is Elizabeth Arden's Flawless Future Moisture Cream which I find very lightweight and soothing on the skin. REVIEW! Mane N Tail The Original Shampoo and Conditioner

  As I tend to rave to everyone and their dog about this line of haircare I thought I would compile my thoughts in a blog post (after two years of no posting – oops!).  I first heard about Mane N Tail from Cosmetics Charlotte on YouTube (Now called CharlottesChance). I immediately ordered the “original” shampoo and conditioner from Amazon to see the results for myself.   From the first wash I was hooked; my hair has never felt so soft and manageable; my unruly curly hair became much easier to style, whether I left it to dry naturally or used a hairdryer. I try to make sure that I don’t use them more than once a week as I am worried that my hair will get used to them and I often take breaks between repurchasing them as I know once I use it in my hair again, I will feel the effects more intensely.
